David joined Kliger Partners in 2002 after practising at a New York City law firm specialising in the areas of insurance litigation and professional indemnity claims against insurance brokers and agents. He gained both trial and appellate experience in the State and Federal Courts of New York prior to moving to Australia.
In 2006, David became a Principal Lawyer in our commercial dispute resolution department. Whilst his practice is primarily focused on commercial and insurance litigation, he also handles commercial transactions and regulatory matters for a range of businesses located in and around Melbourne.
He has handled matters in all of the lower and appellate courts in Victoria, including the Federal Court, and acted for a sovereign nation in proceedings before the High Court of Australia. He regularly acts for parties in Commercial List matters pending in the Supreme and County Courts and handles matters involving commerce between the US and Australia.
David appeared before the High Court of Australia in December 2007 to successfully oppose an application for special leave, and regularly handles appearances at interlocutory hearings on behalf of his clients. His advocacy experience both in Australia and the US makes him a valuable asset to his clients.
David’s ability to resolve complex disputes expeditiously and get right to the heart of the matter makes him a valuable member of Kliger Partners’ commercial litigation team. He prides himself on attending to the client’s needs with the same vigour regardless of the size of the claim or contract in issue.
